I know that the apparent magnitude is 6.4 but the absolute magnitude is not known. I also know that the distance is of 17000 parsecs. With this I can calculate the absolute magnitude with the following formula:
m-M=5log (D)-5
6.4-M=5log (17000)-5
6.4-M=16.15
6.4=16.15+M
M=-16.15+6.4
M=-9.75
I can conclude that if my calculations are ok, the absolute magnitude it's of -9.75.
I can't compare my results because as I said before, there is no data of the absolute magnitude.
